Course Codes

Courses and media are starting to display course codes along with the title. This coding system allows for better organization of our content and to make it easier for you to find what you are looking for, as well as to more quickly identify the order in which you should complete courses.

Anatomy of a Course Code

A course code includes four or five parts:

  1. Brand/Academy - TomTom currently hosts three different learning academies in our learning management system. For Map Partnerships, you are familiar with TomTom Maps Academy. The value to represent TomTom Maps Academy in the course code is CP (for Community and Partnerships, the team that manages TomTom Maps Academy).
  2. Course Category - All TomTom Maps Academy courses are organized into categories. In the example below, VTX is the code for Vertex courses.
  3. Topic in Category - This value helps differentiate the topics in a category. In this example, The Introduction to Vertex course is the second course topic associated with the Vertex category (the first topic is the Vertex Walkthrough). For some categories, this will indicate the sequence in which courses should be taken.
  4. Sequence in Topic - This value indicates where this course falls in sequence within the topic. In this example, Introduction to Vertex is the first course under the Vertex Basics topic.
  5. Version - Some courses may have an additional value. For example, Introduction to Vertex has two versions: (1) a self-directed version and (2) an instructor-led version. The instructor-led version includes an additional value of IL at the end of the code indicating it is instructor-led: [CP-VTX-02.01-IL].
